Lindsey Gabel

Lindsey Gabel is a creative, artistic young woman with a neurological disability that limited her ability to find meaningful traditional employment. After her mother, Tina Gabel, learned about self-employment for individuals with disabilities, Lindsey conducted extensive research, attended trainings, workshops and college courses to assess her interests, strengths and passions. Lindsey then developed a career goal of owning and operating a small business.
To ensure the validity and success of her custom embroidery business, Lindsey traveled to Virginia to participate in an internship. As a result of her dedication and hard work, Tranquility Embroidery was formed. Lindsey's family provided ongoing support and approximately $20,000 in startup supplies and equipment to launch the business. Lindsey is now considering expanding her business to include the development of a private label line of embroidered and monogrammed specialty tote bags. In addition, her family recently established a retail store to allow Lindsey to conduct her business "within a business".
